Program Description:
Brooklyn by the Sea (Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Seagate, Sheepshead Bay). Host Pat Singer's love affair with Brooklyn's seaside communities — Brighton Beach, specifically — began as a child when she would spend summers there with her maternal grandmother and aunt. The founder and executive director of the Brighton Neighborhood Association hopes to be able to give Brooklynites a taste of her neighborhood's international flavor: moving in alongside decades-settled Russians are Pakistanis, Turks, and Mexicans. "Brighton Beach is the last stop on the Q line but the first stop for many arriving émigr&eactue;s," noted Singer. The show strives to introduce Brooklynites to the fashions, foods, artists and craftspeople of southern Brooklyn.
