Neighborhood Beat: Red Hook

Program Description:
An interesting mélange of residential and industrial, Red Hook is Brooklyn’s up-and-coming “residustrial” neighborhood, with a rich waterfront history and promising future. Originally named by the Dutch in the 1600’s for its red soil and hook of land, Red Hook was initially a separate village, and finally annexed into the borough of Brooklyn. Host Megan-Brette Hamilton shows us around this intriguing neighborhood, with attractions like Civil War era warehouses, a new Cruise Ship Terminal and of course Brooklyn’s first Ikea.
.

Neighborhood Beat is a series featuring Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods. The programs are produced and directed by neighborhood reps.
